'The War on Reedy' Creek Goes National
House Republicans on the Federal level have introduced a bill that would remove the federally authorized no-fly zones over Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California. This comes as the next phase in the ongoing 'War on Reedy Creek,' which has pitted Disney against many members of the GOP in a heated culture war battle that began with a bill targeting LGBTQ+ rights in Florida.
The new Federal bill, known as the 'Airlines Independent of Restrictions Act,' has been introduced by Rep. Troy Nehls (TX-R) with co-sponsors Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-R) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-R). In a news release, Nehls stated that theme parks should not receive special treatment and that national security should not be compromised for the benefit of one corporation.
